My last meal was an array of juicy fat curried prawns, potato salad, beek steak, taro and ice cream.
Last Night
It is fair to say that by 12:15pm this afternoon,
I was famished, parched, starved, tired, sleepy.
I could not even have a drink of water.
All becuase I had to have surgery to remove the lump from my right breast.
And the f*&^en operation did not go ahead.
I wasted a day, sitting in a drab waiting room with geriatrics for a surgery that never took place.
At the 11th hour, the doctors came and basically asked me "Do you really need this op?"
To sum up what the bastard said he indicated that "We have more serious cases, and you are not a priority, therefore, don't bother".
I'm cursing the medical profession today for their arrogance and inconsideration.
Anyhow, becuase my surgery didn't happen, I found myself outside the hospital grounds with my backpack, the cellphone, ipod, and $20.00 cash.
Gui left me on the understanding that I was going to be in the hospital for another 4 hours minimum.
Instead of him coming back to get me, I assured him I was to catch a taxi and go home.
However, there was no taxis outside and I couldnt call from Gui's phone.
For the first time in years, I ventured out and caught the bus.
To town
I was really hungry by then but remember I only had $20.00 in my pocket. My wallet is at home.
Do I buy a sandwich and walk home?
Or taxi home and what if $20.oo doesn't get me home?
So I caught the bus to the nearest transport centre ($1.50) and taxied home ($20.50) at which Nita came out with Maeva to pay the remaining amount ($3.00).
Anyhow, on the upside, I did get a day off today. Spent it with Nita and Maeva, going to the Coffee Club to have food and shop at the Warehouse and drive around and have an afternoon nap.
ahh, I should pull a sickie more often, Life is so much more fun when there's no work!!!!
eh,.better go to sleep....work tomorrow )-:

6 months old and eating solids!!
Maeva turned 6 months yesterday.
We are very fond of our little babo. She is mostly happy, content, alert, playful unitl she is hungry and then she turns agitated and grumpy.
She squeals loudly when she can't find her pacifier. She screams knowing that someone will come to her aid and stick the pacifier back into her mouth.
This morning, I mashed some banana and gave her a few spoonfuls. She took it all in, and wanted more but the nurse adviced to introduce it slowly so that her stomach adjusts gradually. Because this food transition can be hard on her bowels, we're giving her gripe water to help her digest.
Maeva is very strong in the legs, she kicks a lot and loves being in an upright position. She still sleeps to music. In the last few weeks, she would sleep at 10pm and wake up at 5-6am, crying for the susu. Gui would get up to bring her from her cot so that I could breastfeed her.
This early wake up routine means that my day starts a little earlier than usual, but it also give me some time in the morning with her before I go to work.
I'd feed her and then walk outside and watch the quiet street. Her eyes and body would turn quickly to catch sounds, like the singing birds, the distant train, the neighbour's cat or the passing car. I love letting her hands touch surfaces, like the fence, the mailbox, the leaves of the tree in the garden. Her feels the surfaces lightly at first, contemplates for a moment, and then scratches at it with all her strength.
Maeva is happiest when she is in the bath, playng in her waker while someone is watching her, shes also happiest when she is wel fed and lying on the floor with her toes in her mouth, or watching people talk while she is cuddled.
She is a thing of beauty, my little babooooo...
