Update time

Maeva loves running in the park...this is her on a sunny Sunday in November at Steele Park, where she was able to run and laugh excitedly and we had to catch up with her.

Pinetarsol Bath
Maeva has excema and she develops skin problems easily... and tends to get itchy quickly...so for this reason, we don't use any fragrant baby creams or soaps on her. He baths have been Pinetarsol for a long long time. At first, we hated the musty smell, but we are getting used to it and it works!

She loves expressing herself in writing, scribbling, drawing. This time, its a mural on the wall, and I have been encouraging her to describe what she has been drawing "Oh my! that looks like a dinasaur Maeva!" and she'll correct me by making up some other animal..."nooo, nooo, its a chien, its a chicken, its a teddy bear"...We love this enthusiasm in our babos

Stella sleepover. This is Maeva's best friend, Stella Peterson. They love playing together. This picture shows them at 8am on a Saturday morning having just woken up and watching Nemo in Maeva's room.
When they are together, they love to dress up and dance!

Brushing her teeth,. Waering her swim suit....to have a bath

This cow is at the University of Waikato. Relle took this photo of Maeva

Tsunami and Devastation

There is so much grief, so much death, and the numbers are increasing.

This was the day of death. And Loss. And Desperation. And much much more.
We drove to the Atu Falealili District right through to the Lalomanu area, and saw first hand the cruel hand of nature on our people, homes, land and everything we love.
Our dear family friend, Aunty Tui has passed away so tragically.
More bodies are being recovered as we speak, there is so much death and suffering.
We are grateful to be alive.
We were in Apia when the earthquake happened. The house SHOOk for a long time (over a minute perhaps) and we immediately ran to the car and uphill. The rest of the people, children, old people, everyone headed uphill.

At the same time, we heard reports on the radio that a wave has hit Poutasi, Lalomanu, but details were unclear.

We hopped in the car and sped over Cross Island Road...pickup trucks went past with bodies wrapped in sheets. We were shocked, but as we neared the coast, more and more bodies were taken to Motootua.

We reached Poutasi first. The first time we saw were boats, thrown from the sea to the roadside, a considerable distance of more than 2 football fields.

Beyond the boats, the ford (bridge) that linked Poutasi to the road was gone. We had to cross using the stream. Joe and Tui's humble home is but an empty shell. Rocks everywhere. Houses completely plucked from their foundations and tossed to the back of the village, along with fridges, cattle, furniture and photos.
Photos of people smiling back at me. At a very distant life.
I stumble across Tui's (Annandale) framed photo, the glass broken, sand but her stunning face remains at her 20s - not so different from her many years later. Gorgeous woman. A selfless family who have built their village, given opportunities for others, so so selfless, so inspirational. Tui is no longer around to be an inspiration for many.
May she rest in peace.
Poutasi seens like a ghost town, 3 children have died, a grandmother is missing.
This was too much grief.
As we left the village, we meet Lale and his medic crew, standing by the stream, having no one to rescue.
We left Poutasi as a crowd of people descended on the village, trying to salvage anything they could find.

We drove towards Lepa, we passed Salani Resort and saw their sturdy accommodations had been thrown back towards the forest.

Lepa is a flat land, littered by large rocks. The homes, cars, everything had been either washed to sea or let at the foothills.

The road to Lalomanu is shattered in places. Large bouldered litter the road.

The Police are hard at work, digging, clearing roads, embracing mourning family members.

More cars pass by, with the dead at the back of the utes.

More destruction.

This is sadness, fear, desperation, loss.
This is extreme loss.
And my spirit cries thinking of the men, women and children who have perished, and their loved ones who are standing by the roadside with nothing but their broken souls.
May they rest in peace.

Sydney was stunning!!!

We've just returned from Sydney, where we spent 7 days.
Lots of fun for Maeva, as you will see in the photos below, she saw lots of animals at the Taronga Zoo and then Nemo and all the fishies at the Aquarium.
Then we did lots of travelling on bus, train and ferries which were all very fun.

Maeva also got to meet our family friends Geoff, his mom, Barbara and Lauren and she learnt a new game from granma called "round and round the garden, like a teddy bear".

Also caught up with my good friend Kavita and her Chilean man, Pablo in the city.

Lots of fun....enjoy the snapshots!!

Maeva Is back and here's some more pics from her trip

enjoy!!!
With her cousins and family in Safua...
At the beautiful Bahai Gardens, wearing her dress from her friend Gabin's granma, very chic maeva!!
Playing with cousin Tau...or maybe tackling Tau? ...give it a few months and Tau will knock you to the ground my love!!
Where in the world is Maeva
What a copycat Aunty Relle!
Some of the many children that came to Tau's 1st birthday party at Aunty Leilani's house

We missed our baby girl so much when she was gone, but now that she is back, I am so glad we actually let her go and be with the family and her loving aunties and granma!! She had an awesome time and theres a change about her.
She can speak a lot clearer now, she said to me last night at the airport "Mommy, I'm Tirrred" and when she tripped over she looked at me and said "I fell down! I fell down!" and she turned around and fell again just so she could say "I fell down!"

Aww, I'm so happy to have my baby back safe and sound and happy...Thanks to Aunty Sue and Poppa Jim for escorting her mini highness, AUnty Relle, Mega, Granma, Lani and ALex for taking care of her and all the family and friends who gave her lots of cuddles and fun times!!!

Allez Les bleus

This is a brilliant story i read in the paper this morning about two crazy French supporters....gotta love the commitment to the cause!!!
Enjoy!!!

Told of the ban, Mr Bigot said Pepino would be disappointed. "I just told him the news he cannot see the game, and he's very sad."

She hoped the men would find a good home for Pepino before they left the country, suggesting they contact the SPCA for help. However, Mr Bigot would like to give him to the NZRFU "... maybe offer him to Graham Henry".

Maeva on holiday without us )-:

Cherelle sent me photos of Maeva at the beach yesterday.
She went to Samoa on Sunday and will be back next week Tuesday.
I miss my baby girl so so so much and I feel so incomplete without her following me around the house demanding my attention.
I was so worried the last few days but my o for awesome sisters and family have been so good with Babos, taking good care of her, taking her to the beach, the pool, spoiling her and spending lots of time with her cousin, the birthday boy Tau.
Am happy she is bonding with him now coz hes a Waikato boy!
I spoke to Maeva on the phone tonight and she did the haka on the phone for me....awww, i miss my babos)-:
