1 December 2010 Progress Report (:
I have been super slack with updating this blog, sorry to myself and Maeva - I have been very busy but even more, lazy!
I am now 30 weeks pregnant and its memorable for the fact that I am short of breath most of the time. I have to exhale and inhale deeply in order to cope. It is worse when I have just eaten. I feels like I am running out of space in my tummy. Argh!
Maeva has been such a darling during all these dramas. She is now singing a lot. He favourite activity is doing role play using Barbie, Snow White, Cinderella, Ken and Sleeping Beeeauutey!!
The last few weeks have been very tough for our household.
I am in the middle of my thesis write up, and still working.
So Gui has been a super dad with looking after Maeva while I spend my weekends in the management labs at Uni.
He's also been a supermom at home with doing the chores when I am really exhausted from work.
I can't wait to get this friggin' thesis out of the way, it is such a headache for me, and everyone else around me.
VISITORS
Granma Moelagi and Aunty Lani came for the weekend.
Maeva loved having them at home.
Granma Moelagi brought a book called Tusi Paia a Tamaiti, about the stories in the Bible. Maeva was fascinated with the stories and she insists I read her the story of Noa and the ark, Tavita ma Koliata repeatedly.
We are looking forward to Christmas so much, we have a lot of people coming:
Nani Jacqui and Eric will be here for about 3 weeks.
Granma Moelagi here for Xmas
Omega, our Waikato boy Tauilagi and Alex will be at Onemana too
Cherelle and Paul arrive 23rd.
Exciting but now I have to hurry up with my thesis so I can have a real break.
hope the next time i post something i would be on a holiday!

Maeva Moelagi is 3 years, 6 months old and has a lot to be excited about!
She is very much looking forward to having "her" baby.
She has decided that she will share her room with the baby and everything she does now it involves baby.
I took her to the Doctor this morning because she has been feeling sick in the last 2 days.
While we were in the pharmacy, she called out what she wanted to get for the baby:
"A bottle, a dummy, some clothes, a cream (rash cream) and some shoes".
Even though she is not feeling too well, she is still fine to go to Kindy, so we got the medicines and cream for her ezcema, gave her some amoxicillin for her tonsilitis and steroid for her skin.
The doc also thinks she may have hay fever.
We will find out more after the blood test.
She loves Dora the Explorer, and Loves singing the songs "We did it! we did it yeah!"
She is constantly doing role play with her wee dolls and barbies, always asking me or Gui "You be Beauty and I be Snow White, okay!"
She can write her name now, and Gui's...however Gui always ends up being GIU, hah...but its a good effort!
The first word/name she could spell is Momo, which is the name of our homestay student from Japan who Maeva loves to bits!
Last night, we managed (finally) to skype with Tau and Omega on our new laptop. it was very very fun!
Tau is a big bog now and talking !..this is weird for us because we keen picturing a little toddler.
We are looking forward to Christmas at Onemana with the Hilbrons, Cherelle, Paul and Nani Jacqui and Eric. Simon, Lina and the boys might come too after Christmas.
Gui started his new job (still at Fonterra) but now in the city. Change is good me thinks.
I also have a LOT of work to do finish off my write up of the thesis. My deadline is 21 Nov.
HEEEELP!
My work contract is finishing on 26th November 2010 but may stay a bit longer to help out. I like this because I need the $$$...If i could work till end Jan it would be ideal financially. But we'll see, it all depends on others.
K, this is enough yadayada...just needed to update the blog for my Maeva's sake!
She loves being a ballerina.
She loves talking, and singing and pretending and make believe.
We love our little poustak so much!!!!
Oh, and she wants to call the baby "Winnie the Pooh" hah!

Moelagi Maeva Becerra, 3 years, 4 months older,Te Rapa Early Education Centre.
This is Moelagi's school (kindy) photo this year.
She's wearing a skirt and bracelet from her Aunty Cherelle.
She Loves this skirt soooo much that I had to hide it - to stop her from seeing it.
She loves wearing necklaces too, this is a blue one from the 2 Dollar Shop.
And her top is from Aunty Fleur, she loves this because it has Mickey Mouse on the side.
MM wanted to wear the skirt and just the Mickey Mouse top, but it was freezing in July and I had to force her into wearing the thermal top inside.
She also got a class photo, I will try scan that tomorrow.
We are really looking forward to our trip to Samoa, on the 7th September.
Lots of luv,
Maeva Moelagi and her crazy parents.

Peer pressure, but she's only 3!!!
Yesterday evening, I went home after 7pm, tired and ready for a long bath and sleep
but Maeva was in the mood for dancing and drawing and pretending and ACTION!
Then she told me that her kindy were having a "Welcome Home Party" for her teacher Ellie.
Ellie was in Europe on her Big O.E. and after 2 months, the children are planning to suprise her with a festive day and lots of celebrations.
Maeva piped up "I want to wear my party dress Mom"
Me: "Which one?"

August 2010 Update
Wow, have I been slack on updating the blog or what?
Maeva is now 3 years and 3 months old. She loves talking, a lot. And playing with her ballerina, Ken, and two daughters Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. For this reason, she loves playing "mums and Dads" or "Mums and daughters" or "Dads and daughters".
She was admitted to Starship overnight beginning of Aug for having high blood pressure and a very low pulse, but she is okay now, we just have to see a specialist to monitor her progress and make sure its nothing serious.
Cherelle
We had Aunty Cherelle for 2 lovely weeks. Maeva LOVED having her home. They roomed together, Relle on the matress and her on her bed. But on several nights, when I checked their room, she was glued to Cherelle on the matress, and it makes for very uncomfortable sleeping, so it was a bit of a task extracting her from the matress to her bed again.
Relle bought her a gorgeous skirt with many colours, and it has become the flavour of the year. She loves wearing it and doing the siva samoa/ballerina in it.This is her thing she learnt from Relle "You dork!".
Hotel Stay
When Relle was here, she had the brilliant idea of checking into a hotel. Maeva LOVEd this idea so much, that on the day we checked out she pleaded with me "Mom, can I have another day please!!!".
Being the fob that she is, I left her with Relle so I could drop off Leilani and when I returned,. Relle shows me the child who is having the time of her life...she was stilling on a swirvel shair, in front of the heat pump, enjoying the heat blow in her hair. FOB alert!
We also ordered room service, Maeva got to have her dinner, then banana spilt, then dinner again - Brat!
She had a bubble bath with Relle and they managed to make large bubbles....i have photos....(coming this century).Hospital Stay
Sadly, on the last day, my Maeva got sick and we ended up at Starship Hospital, we stayed the night while they monitored her heart, did xrays and various other tests. She was the most well mannered kid in the ward full of screaming kids. When we went up to xrays, she did everthing the nurse asked her to do, without a sound. I was so proud of my bubba!
The next day, we were allowed to go, but only to report to a specialist in the Waikato. We also got to visit Sione, who is at Ronald McDonald house. He looks okay, strong and smiling. He is now wheelchair bound but still a cheerful child. Maeva loved playing with him.
Kindy
Kindy continues to be fun for Maeva, she's making lots of new friends and learning lots of new things,
From Gabriel, she learns to say "See you later alligator, don't forget the toilet paper!" and then laughs out loud. She also enjoys dancing with her friends, and of course drawing and scribling.
she can spell Gui. G-U-I!!!
Favourites
Purple remains her favourite colour, followed closely by pink.
She wants to be a ballerina when she grows up, in Samoa..haha, that'll be a first!
SO the ultimate gift for her was a ballerina who wears a gorgeous purple tutu!
She still loved eating green beans, peas, carrots and cherry tomatoes.
Fruits are considered a fun treat.
When we go to the supermarket, she is allowed to choose ONE treat, this is usually a donut, or a Kinder choc egg or if she's feeling adventurous, dinosaur eggs (yoghurt balls).
She loves giving cuddles, and saying "I love you so so much" ...and it makes my heart sing to hear her say that, even though it is followed by "Can I have a cookie please?"
She loved to help. Especially when I'm in the kitchen. SHe loves mixing the flour, egg yolk, sugar etc for the pancakes or the crumble.
Bad habits
Maeva is no angel, that's for sure.
She still fights to the end to avoid sleeping at night. So the solution is either we read her 5 books and if she is not asleep and happy we just shut the door and let her howl until the neighbourhood is awake, and she falls asleep...while I read my book oblivious of the screams.
She forgets to wash her hands after going to the loo, so lately, I've had to get a bowl of water and her her to dip her hands int to clean them thoroughly.
She has a Marseille temper. That can flare out when you pushe her to her limits. She reminds me of her crazy father when she is angry. haha.
Samoa
We are going to Samoa 7th - 27th Sept. I have to do data collection and we need a holiday. Maeva is looking forward to seeing her roomie Auntty Relle again. She is already planned which doll is going and who isn't. I told her she will be seing relle again and she said "I miss her so so much" Gosh, is this girl a godsend or a real good kuluku????
Overall, she has been so much fun lately, she can engage in a conversation and say the most hilarious or the most interesting things.
This morning, we sang ABC in the car on the way to Kindy, we sang it in high soprano voices...funny version of course....after the song, she exclaimed "what good team work! we are such good singers aye!"
hahah....definitely Jackson genes shinning through!
okay, i gotta finish my proposal. and photos to come once our broken laptop is replaced.
when i win the lotto this weekend.
haha

8 July Current Affairs
Just an update, a looooooooooong one!:
We have a new Japanese homestay student coming on Sunday, her name is:
MOMO.
Serious, I didn't just pick her for her name!
...
Gui's rugby is ending soon for this season, thank Lord Almighty!
He's a bit discouraged about his team coz many have not been turning up to training.
But then again, its uni break, so no students around.
Gui's been awesome around the house, cleaning, cooking, looking after Maeva while I'm studying, or feeling like shit.
...
I'm still at WI. Still looking after NZAID. And still not sure what to do next.
My contra ends Aug-Sept and I may have to stop work so I can focus fully on the thesis.
These days are getting dreadful because I'm working all day and by the time i'm studying, I am tired and 'unmotivated'.
But - I'm drawing the boundaries now, today - I'm at the library, completing my tasks and picking up my poor girl from kindy.
Focus focus.
And my FB is deactivated still. so I don't get distracted.
...
Maeva update
She has been a ray of sunshine the last few days...or shall I say, a ray of ozone rays that pierce through your ears and jumps on your head when youre unaware. She now sleeps in her room again, I just have to cuddle her for a bit then she dozes off on her own.
I still have to read her books (too many!) before she sleeps.
She has a better understanding of Samoan and french, since we read the books to her in those languages.
She keeps pleading with me to make her a baby sister and a big brother (!), so I keep reminding her that she has to do her (prayers)tatalo, so everytime she asks, she stops and prays loudly:
"Iesu, faamolemole!
Aumai,
Sa'u baby sister,
ma sa'u big baby brother,
faamolemole
AMENE!!!" ...gosh, I'll be in trouble if her prayers are answered and I get both....ahhhhhh!
Aside from that, she's been so awesome she keeps reminding me "Youre my best friend aye Mom!....and i love you too much!".
She's really into her dolls at the moment, so the dollhouse, farm house and numerous dolls are finally being used and abused and tossed under the bed and everywhere.
...
Maeva doesn't call some of her cousins her cousins, she insists on calling them her brothers, so every time we discuss this, she says, "I have 4 brothers, Victor, Antoine, Jules and Tau". ...she definitely needs siblings, she claiming everyone, haha.
...
Lani now has a permanent job with Auckland Hospital, so she's happy with that.
...
Relle's in Samoa still, we're hoping to see her soon if her plans don't change.
...
Omega and co were here a few weeks ago after Alex's pe'a, wish we could have Tau longer, he and MM are besties.
...
Lina's pregnant with number 3, due in Jan, yay! another to the Jackson collage.
...
Nani Jacqui has had surgery this week and Gui was talking to her on the phone, we hope she is okay, sad that we couldn't be there to be with her):
...
Victor's birthday this week as well, hopefully soon he can hop on the plane and come visit us soon!
...
Mom busy with her study groups. The rest of family are well, same headaches, different day haha.
...
Okay, I better get my focus back, I want to achieve something before 4pm today, and its now 12 noon.
Wish me luck and brilliant ideas!

long overdue update
26 June 2010, it has been a long long while since i last blogged here.
It has been a very busy, tiring, stressful, and very cold few weeks.
Definitely no mood for blogging but, i'm doing it now, yay!
Maeva is now truly settled into kindy and loving it. Her best friend is Rania.
She's a lot more well versed with letters, she would yell out the letters as we're driving, and when she sees them on shops and signs and adverts.
It's very funny now how she identified letters, for example, M for Maeva.
O for Omega, but she never says Omega, its always O for Aunty Mega.
V for Victor (her cousin in Marseille). S for Sheree. W for Wendy.
S for Samoa.
She loves singing and dancing, so lately, we've been having dance offs in her room.
I lie on her bed while she bows and makes up a dance and show, then she bows (ifo!) and It's my turn.
The songs are about everything and anything.
Purple is still her colour,. And the ultimate dream for her is a purple little piglet that go "wee wee wee".
She can say colours in English, French and Samoan - she is very proud to point this out.
She continues to love reading, she drives me and Gui up the wall by asking to have so many books read to her. So what I do is make her read me the book for a change. Or I just pretend to sleep so she leaves me alone. Bad Mom!
She loves painting, drawing, scribbling, especially Ms.MMMMMM.
Loves playing with her friends (close friends), shes definitely not going to be the ice breaker at the party, she's quite a calculating child, she stops, scans the area and then chooses her moment,.
This isn't always a good thing when I am in a rush in the morning and her besties are not in kindie yet, and she will not release me until a teacher catches her attention.
She's had a bad few weeks, for a few days she coughed and coughed repeatedly, not much sleep. She was getting her asthma problems again. We now have a new doctor, who is brilliant and got her a different inhaler which did magic for her cough. The only problem is that she inhales, then it causes her to vomit (out the phelm and all the gunk blocking her airways) and then she is fine after that, and thankfully drowsy.
Then another few days of good health then a fever, so back to the doctor we go.
She has been like this since she was born, especially beginning of winter then she gets used to it.
Gui continues to play rugby and working for those shets at the same workplace.
I am still at uni until 31 aug when my contract finishes. It will most likely be extended but I am not too keen to continue as it is getting more and more a finance/accounting role which I detest with so much passion.
I just finished my online paper with School of M n Pac Developmt, which was okay, but I submitted ALL my assignments late. well, I started the course late due to enrolment, student loan issues.
I am now meant to submit my proposal for the thesis and that will be my focus tomorrow at the labs.
This whole juggling thing is making me just frustrated and over it. I'm hating this place so much and I want to get the hell out of shitty old Hamilton. That is my inspiration at the moment, get that bloody thesis over with and get the hell out of here.
...where to?
Don't know,
Don't care.
I left home for uni in 1999. I only spend a year and a bit back home in 2003. I want to be home but also realistic that I need to find a job before I do anything drastic.
I am scanning the job section of every possible organisation that suits my qual and work exp as a GOAL to get my a into G.
Okay, i need to end with a positive note: especially about this place:
- Maeva's medical costs zero, so we dont spent a cent on her frequent trips to the doc.
- Fresh fruits
- All Blacks are in town, yay. sure.
- That we have a functioning heat pump that keeps us warm in this cold period.
- That there's people doing worse off, so I should brighten up and count my blessings.

Easter Break 2010
For Maeva's memoirs
Good Friday was a day off - but Gui's rugby game against Hautapu was happening at 1pm, so while he left early to see his team, Maeva and I had a sleep in, watched tv, cleaned the house, did 3 loads of washing and then got ready for the rugby.
We took our own sandwiches, cucumbers (her new favourite), jam sandwich and a mango because there is a 15% surcharge on all goods today.
We parked our car on the hill and watched the game from there (well, Maeva- you slept), then we joined my cousin Rob and his family. We also got to hold baby Tamatoa (Tiana and Brian's cute little son).
For the second half, we walked across the paddock to the main stand.
You had eaten all the cucumbers by then.
We sat with the Varsity boys waiting for your papa to come out of the changing sheds.
You got impatient so you started playing with the dust until your pants were all brown.
While we waited, I thought you were behaving so well, so I rewarded you with a licorice from the dairy.
You were very excited about it, you held the long rope of licorice across your face and said
"Look mum!"
However, the fun ended there, you didn't like the taste, so you placed that back in the bag and picked something else.
Then we shared a mango, and you ate faster than me!
By then, your papa had come out of the shed and you ran excitedly to see greet him.
You love hanging around his feet playing in the dust while he was chatting with his boys.
But I was not happy when he got you a packet of crisps - Not good Papa!
Anyway - we watched the game - Varsity lost but it was a fun day altogether.

Easter Weekend
We drove to Bowentowen, pitched up the tent and you were fascinated with the zips and the air bed and the dirt!
We set up our table outside and you sat there eating your lunch while me and your papa set up our tent.
You met the neighbours kids, Jules and Miller, both girls who liked to run around. You ended up hanging out with them a lot.
We spent heaps of time at the playground, beach, kitchen, walking tracks and outdoors.
I think the highlights for you were:
- Making sand castles at Waihi beach and Pio's beach
- Finding your chocolate easter bunny in your sleeping bag...and eating it too!
- Taking Tigger on your back to the beach
- Jumping on the trampoline and being chased by your mama while you giggled.
- Watching other kids playing in the resources room
- Washing your hands with 'pink soap'
- Swinging under the tree next to our tent
- Sleeping in with your olds in a wee wee tent
- Playing in the fresh water pond at Waihi
- SWIMMING AT THE HOT WATER POOLS IN TE AROHA, THATS THE BEST I THINK!
My girl, you were a wonderful camper and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you. We will do this again this winter and make sure you have as much time outdoors so you can be nature loving bugga like us!!!

I love my Maeva Moelagi (:
Posing with your Papa at Waihi Beach, you love this dress, in fact, all dresses. Just this morning we had another struggle to get you to wear pants. You won the struggle - again - you wore your dress to daycare!
Eating your Easter Bunny in our tent on Sunday morning
Swinging under the trees...you little monkey (:
Look, Papa found you a wee shell!

Mount Maunganui in March 2010
Loads of fun times at the beach with Maeva, even though it was a bit cold, she loved playing in the water with Gui and in the sand as well. It took me ages to get the sand out of her hair and clothes. She loves talking at the moment, shes is constantly having a conversation with herself.
Lately, we've been reversing roles, she becomes the mama and I become Maeva. She'll speak to me in a concerned tone and say "I'm the mummy, okay baby? Youre Maeva.....you want to go to school and I go to study at ..aniversity??" She makes me laugh when she does this!
Its also a good way of making her cooperate...when shes a bit of a sookie, I'd say "Mommies doing cry like that!"
Well, it worked for a few days but not lately!

Water-Lemon
One of the highlights that comes with summer is the abundance of fruits that maeva could sink her teeth into.
Watermelons are high on the list - and this year its all about "I want a big piece, and dont cut the skin off!"
This afternoon, we bought a freshly picked watermelon from the farmers market, and it was soooo juicy and sweet!
Maeva tends to say waterLEMON, and its only when we correct her does she correctly say it.
Her new thing this week also is rather than saying "beg your pardon?" she says "my pardon my?" it is sooo funyy, and then while we're rolling with laughter she says "I'm just asking!".
She loves dresses at the moment, this one is from Aunty Mega for Christmas and she calls it her dance dress - every time she wants to dance at home she runs and grabs this dress - whether its clean or dirty!
She loves dancing at the moment.
And singing, she makes up songs a lot, expecially when shes playing with her kangaroo.
