Yesterday, my Maeva Moelagi turned the "BIG 5"
Today is Maeva's last day at Kindy and then on Monday morning, she goes to school for the first time.
I feel like crying): my baby girl is starting school! But my tears sort of stop short when I think of her and how prepared, intelligent and determined she is.
This week has been great, everything revolved around firsts and lasts.
We had her last school visit at Green Bay, and this time she was a confident girl who was not hanging off my leg. She was putting her hand up to answer the question that the teacher hadn't asked yet. She was talking to others happily and playing together. My mind was finally at peace seeing her fit into the classroom environemnt beautifully.
Granted, she will struggling with having to sit still for extended periods of time.
She will struggle with staying quiet when the teacher is talking.
She will struggle with many things, but I know we have prepared her as much as possible.
The school she is going into have a very good programme and I am sure she will be fine.
Maeva has been in the care of others since she was 3 months old, so she is used to change and has the social skills to much.
I think the nervous one here is ME, not her!
I have enrolled her at After School care as well because my work does not finish till 5. I will pick her up the first few days immediately after school to make sure she is fine, but it'll be afterschool care afterwards.
Aunty relle is here, she is on route to Barbados for a meeting but its been great having her here on Maeva's 5th Birthday. Maeva loves her to bits....and she reminded maeva that 3rd may is also "world press freedom day". Yay.
in other news,
Im looking for alternative childcare for Tuifiti which is closer to home, saves us taking him into the city.
This will be sad because we love the daycare he is in,.....but in saying that, we have loved every daycare our children have been. We are very lucky to be in a country where the standards accorded to daycares and schools are closely monitored and if i want, i can look up the ERO Report for any institution and see how they perform.
great stuff. now,. back tow work and planning maevas birthday party tomorrow.
